Baytown, TX - When details of Monty's disappearance were shared, there was little to provide hope that the dog would ever be found.
Monty was in the back of a truck which was stolen on June 23.
The theft happened while Monty's owner was out of town - attending a class.
The dog was not microchipped, nor did he have on ID tags. The theft occurred miles from his home.
The circumstances indicated that Monty would probably never be located.
Though the stolen truck was recovered on July 5, Monty was nowhere to be found.
But this update was just shared from Monty's owner,
After contacting every vet, animal hospital, shelter, newspaper, dog recovery teams and pet finder associations, as well as utilizing on-line posts, etc.. that I could think of,,,,, I received an email from Nancy Rohr of Houston, notifying me that she'd seen our ad on Craigs List and that a dog at the Houston SPCA appeared to be a match.
A rescuer (name unknown) had found Monte and turned him into the SPCA on 7/12. Nancy found him and notified us on 7/15.
Brad and I were in our vehicle by 6pm that night and headed to Houston. We picked up Monte at 9am saturday morning and he was soooo happy to see us. He has many battle wounds, full of fleas and thin but overall, intact. He was so exhausted that he couldn't keep his eyes open on the drive home and slept in my lap the whole way back to Granbury.
It didn't seem possible, but Monty was discovered and alert eyes enabled him to be safely reunited with his owner before something happened to him at the shelter.
Hopefully Monty will be sporting a collar with ID tags and a microchip from here on out.
