Athena came through her surgery with flying colors. Both the upper canines were removed and she is recovering at the vet.
Thankfully, K-9 Karma Animal Advocates had a donor who generously paid for the cost of her dental surgery. However, it is not known what ongoing expenses may occur depending on how she responds to the antibiotics to treat the infection in her gums. Further, the rescue has already paid to have Athena spayed, make sure she has all her shots, and a microchip.
Donations to K-9 Karma also help them say "yes" the next time there is a dog in need--at risk of being put down because of a treatable medical condition. Like all rescues in the Wichita area, K-9 Karma is all volunteer. All funds go to the care of the dogs to waiting to be adopted and allow the rescue to save more lives.
All rescues have to walk that line of deciding which ones to save based on the budget they have and whether there is a foster home until the dog is adopted. Rescued only means an animal is "safe." The next step is finding a good, loving home that will care for them the rest of their life.
To apply to adopt Athena, contact email@example.com and they will send you an adoption application.
