Update on Annie’s Homegrown Frozen Pizza recall: UPC numbers

Annie’s Homegrown Frozen Pizza announced today that they are initiating a voluntary recall after learning of a metal mesh screen failure at a third-party flour-mill. The company found fragments of flexible metal mesh in some of its flour and pizza dough.

All of the company’s manufacturers have metal detection devices and control programs in place. Yet, fine wire too small to be detected, could have found its way into the finished product.

There have been no consumer injuries, complaints or illnesses reported to date and the recall is being done as a precaution. The company is working with the FDA and the USDA to get a quick resolution.

The recalled varieties of Annie’s Homegrown rising crust Frozen Pizza, have a best by date including and between Jan. 9 and Sept. 14, 2013. These pizza’s could have been purchased at multiple stores including, Costco, Whole Foods Markets, Safeway, Wal-Mart and Quality Food Centers.
