The soft, expressive eyes of a 15-year-old terrier mix at the Baldwin Park Animal Care and Control facility in California, touched thousands.
The dog, named "Daisy," had no interest as of Saturday morning, and she was scheduled to be destroyed on Sunday if that sad fact did not change.
Thankfully, someone who heard about Daisy's plight was moved enough that they took action.
On Sunday, Alicia Esken was able to get Daisy pulled from the animal control agency and from there, she was transported to a veterinarian for an exam.
Daisy's story is truly heartbreaking.
Daisy's former owner surrendered her, at 15 years of age, to the crowded animal control facility and left her there to die.
Daisy's body is covered in masses - some which are open and oozing. Though Daisy's body is tired and she is not in perfect health, her foster intends to ensure that the rest of her days are as comfortable as possible.
Anyone who is willing and able to help with Daisy's veterinary expenses can phone the veterinary clinic to make a donation to help.
