But it’s still unclear what led to the triple shooting, which happened in November. It’s also unclear how investigators linked the suspect to the crime.
Mr. Darez Sanders, 28, was charged with three counts of murder in the deaths of Mr. James Johnson, 56, Mr. Ruberia Sawyer, 24, and Mr. Timothy Jackson, 37, according to Atlanta police.
They are all listed as having the same address, which is 2258 Gary Court where their bodies were found, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office. But they could not confirm if the men actually lived there.
The bodies of Mr. Sawyer and Mr. Jackson were found first at the home on Nov. 22, police said. A family member found them and called 911.
“When they arrived, they discovered two adult males inside the residence that had apparently died from gunshot wounds,” police spokesman Sgt. Gregory Lyon has said.
Officers were still trying to determine who shot the men and why when around 2 p.m. on Nov. 23 they were called back to the location, this time by a concerned friend who had found Mr. Johnson's body deep in the woods at the back of the home, Sgt. Lyon has said.
Police have not released the suspect’s connection to any of the victims. But said on Friday investigators took out warrants for his arrest after ascertaining that he is a suspect, police spokesman Officer John Chafee said.
The US Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force located Mr. Sanders and took him into custody on Monday. He remained in the Fulton County Jail Tuesday.
