Note: Free hours on Thursdays at The Art Institute of Chicago were scheduled to end after Labor Day, but negotiations are continuing, so for the time being, the schedule remains the same.
If you’re interested in the celestial skies or the wonders of science, you’ll want to take advantage of the free days at the Adler Planetarium and the Museum of Science and Industry this week. These aren’t the only museums with free admission this week, though. Here’s the complete list for this upcoming week:
Adler Planetarium. Tuesday. Open 10am-4pm. 1300 South Lake Shore Drive, Chicago. 312-922-STAR (7827).
Art Institute of Chicago. Thursday, 5-8pm only. 111 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago. 312-443-0849.
The Chicago Children's Museum will not have any free hours this week. The museum will be closed Tuesday through Friday of this week for improvements.
Chicago History Museum. Monday. Open 9:30am-4:30pm. 1601 N. Clark St., Chicago. 312-642-4600.
Museum of Contemporary Art. Tuesday (you can also enjoy a free jazz concert on the terrace from 5:30-8pm on Tuesday - click here http://tinyurl.com/292w38w for more information); free on Labor Day for active duty military personnel and their families. Museum of Contemporary Photography. Free every day. Open Mon.-Sat. 10am-5pm (Thurs. until 8pm), Sun. 12-5pm (closed when Columbia College is closed). 600 S. Michigan Ave. at Columbia College, Chicago. 312-663-5554.
