Gloucester, Ma.-- John Dugan, 26 of Gloucester, arrested in December for disemboweling and disposing of his female pit bull Xena, after she ingested his supply of heroin will appear in Gloucester District Court, March 5, 2013, to face charges of animal cruelty.

The shocking nature of Dugan's behavior has sparked outrage amongst animal advocates and animal lovers across the globe. In anticipation of stiff sentencing on the part of Judge Joseph Jennings of Gloucester District Court, a petition requesting the maximum penalty of 5 years incarceration as defined by Massachusetts law, has been brought to life.

In just two short weeks, the petition requesting justice for Xena has garnered the names of over 64,000 individuals demanding that justice be served and Xena's death not be in vain.
