Update: DeKalb man who shot known intruder multiple times charged with murder

A man shot and killed an acquaintance who allegedly broke into his apartment early Friday morning. But hours later, police said they have charged the resident in the shooting.

Mr. Sean Williams, 41, was charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to DeKalb County police.

The deceased victim has been identified as Mr. Vincent Alexander, police spokeswoman Ms. Mekka Parish said. The 30-year-old man was shot multiple times and died at the scene, she said.

It was unclear late Friday if Mr. Alexander was armed. And police have not said why they charged the resident with murder.

The call came in around 4 a.m. about shots being fired at the Silver Oak Apartments at 1281 Brockett Road, police said.

When officers arrived on the scene they found the man inside a unit dead from multiple gunshot injuries, spokesman Capt. Steven Fore said. said.

“The man forced his way into the unit and the resident fired at him,” police spokesman Capt. Steven Fore said.

Police said the two men knew each other and had gotten into an argument Thursday afternoon. But it’s unclear what the argument was about.

The suspect, Mr. Williams, was also injured and transported to the hospital. But police could not say what caused his injury, which they said was not from being shot.
