According to Matt L. Stephens, ex-Rocky Mountain Collegian sports editor, Pete Thomas texted him saying he's "not sure" if he's leaving Colorado State for Vanderbilt.
Also commenting on the situation is CBS 4's Vic Lombardi, saying "He's definitely been in contact with Vandy. That's a fact."
Earlier today I personally broke the news that Thomas would in fact be transferring to Vanderbilt. As many as five sources, including two with connections to the Athletic Department, confirmed with me that the sophomore QB would be changing schools.
It now turns out the sources were passing along merely rumors and that Thomas is not completely sure if he will be leaving Fort Collins, Colorado for Nashville, Tennessee.
I want to take a second and apologize for breaking news that was not completely confirmed.
What is confirmed is that Thomas has been in contact with Vanderbilt and he is considering tansferring.
Despite starting 21 straight games for Colorado State, Thomas may be considering the move due to the fact that four other quarterbacks are on the roster currently.
Garrett Grayson was stripped of his redshirt late last year due to a knee injury Thomas sustained in Week Nine, and Grayson performed well in his first three starts.
M.J. McPeak will be a senior next season, with no experience, while many believe freshman Conner Smith has the biggest arm of the group.
And new Rams' head coach Jim McElwain has already brought in C.J. Leonard, who played high school ball at Fossil Ridge and spent last year at a prep school in North Carolina.
