Police on Tuesday said a woman who was killed over the weekend in Henry County had been beaten to death.

The cause of Mrs. Sheray Latriest Felton’s death was released a day after her husband was arrested in Chicago and charged with her murder, according to Henry County police.

The autopsy results revealed the cause of her death to be “blunt force trauma with an offensive weapon to include lacerations with an edged weapon,” police spokesman Sgt. Joey Smith said in a news release.

It's unclear if investigators have found the murder weapon.

Family members found Mrs. Felton dead around 1 p.m. Saturday at her home in Hampton after speaking to her earlier in the morning, Sgt. Smith has said.

Mr. Joseph Andrew Felton, Jr., who was arrested in January after a domestic-related call to the home, was developed as a person of interest in her death even before her autopsy was completed, police said.

He was nowhere to be found when officers arrived at the home Saturday.

On Monday he was apprehended and Henry County detectives were sent to Chicago to continue with the investigation, Sgt. Smith said.

Mr. Felton face several charges in connection with the Chicago arrest incident, Sgt. Smith said. But he did not list the charge.

Once Mr. Felton is presented with the Chicago charges an extradition process will begin to get him back to Georgia to face a charge of murder in his wife's death, officials said.
