Police believe they have captured the man who shot a driver, causing him to crash into wall at an apartment complex parking lot and die.
But they have released few details on the circumstances of the shooting or the motive for the 23-year-old’s murder on Jan. 2.
On Thursday, police charged Mr. Johnny Farrington, 27, with murder in the death of Mr. Elijah Edmondson, of Cartersville, officials said.
Shortly before 2:50 p.m. that Wednesday, police responded to 880 Rock St. after getting a call about a person shot, according to Atlanta police.
“When the officers arrived on the scene they noticed a disabled vehicle with serious body damage, the driver of the vehicle unresponsive and the passenger alert with injuries,” police spokesman Sgt. Gregory Lyon said.
The vehicle had sustained damage after crashing into a sidewalk at the complex.
“Emergency medical responders advised that the driver had succumbed to the injuries he received from a gunshot and the passenger was transported to Grady Hospital with back injuries,” Sgt. Lyon said.
It's unclear where the victim was shot in the body and how the shooting happened.
Mr. Farrington, who was also charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, remained in the Fulton County jail Friday without bond, according to booking records.
