Earlier today, March 18, officials via Twitter, announced the deployment of update number 10 to "SimCity." This is the anticipated update that would finally bring offline mode to so many players. The update is set to launch at 6 AM PDT and servers are expected to be down for several hours. For status updates, you can check on this thread.

If you don't remember, in January, General Manager of the Maxis Emeryville studio, Patrick Buechner, announced on the "SimCity" blog that Offline mode were in the late stages of development and would be launched with update number 10.

Offline mode will now allow the player to have their games saved locally on their own computers rather than having their saved game stored on one of the "SimCity" servers. In addition to not having to be connected anymore to play, "SimCity" enthusiasts can now develop mods for "the game and its components without compromising the integrity of Online game." Those who wish to mod their game, however, must still adhere to the modding guidelines found here.

Furthermore, according to the original blog announcement with regards to Online mode, "All of the benefits of being connected will remain including access to Multiplayer, the Global Market and Leaderboards. And all of your pre-existing saved cities and regions will still be accessible should you log-in to the Online game."

Now that the update has finally arrived, will you start playing "SimCity" again? Or has the problems the game has had since day one cause you to never try your hand at this classic city building simulator? Let us know in the comments below.
