Upcoming World Baseball Classic will feature several former Tulsa Drillers

Major League Baseball recently revealed all 16 provisional rosters for the upcoming World Baseball Classic (WBC). Major Leaguers hailing from around the world, including several former Tulsa Drillers, have committed to the third edition of the international tournament.

Taking the field for Team USA will be Toronto pitcher R.A. Dickey (1999 Drillers) and Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeria (2002 Drillers).

Seven former Drillers (all pitchers) will compete on foreign teams: Adam Bright (Australia, 2007-2009 Drillers), Dustin Molleken (Canada, 2011 Drillers), Ching-Lung Lo (Chinese Taipei, 2007-2010 Drillers), Esmil Rogers (2009 and 2011 Drillers) and Pedro Strop (Dominican Republic, 2008 Drillers) and Xavier Cedeno (Dominican Republic, 2008-2009 Drillers).

First-round WBC action will take place in Taiwan (March 2-5), Japan (March 2-6), Puerto Rico (March 7-10), and Phoenix, Arizona (March 7-10). Second-round play is slated for March 8-12 in Tokyo and March 12-16 in Miami. The championship round is scheduled for March 17-19 in San Francisco.
