WINNIPEG — Winnipeg Film Group has recently announced its series of upcoming workshops for February 2012.
Experimental Series
- February 9 - May 5: The 16mm Experiment - Make a short experimental 16mm film with filmmakers Mike Maryniuk and Aaron Zeghers. Learn how to use the Bolex camera, lighting techniques, hand-processing negatives, and give 'em the ol' tint and tone. Cost: $229. For more information, click here.
- Feb 25-26: Flix Re-Mix - Found Footage Filmmaking - This hands-on class will introduce people to the Found Footage Film. Learn how to view, select, cut, edit and post-produce (with sound) with filmmaker Craig Baldwin. The first day will be an introduction to the genre through screenings and discussion. Participants will begin assembling a scene or short film collage by engaging with real 16mm celluloid film material (provided). The second day, participants will have three extra hours to complete the work they started. During clean-up, they will watch their new works and receive feedback. Cost: $75. Master Class Series
- February 18-19: Silhouette Animation - In this hands-on class led by Andy Smetanka, participants will first build a DIY light table in studio. A silhouette- and backdrop-cutting workshop will ensue, during which they will make the elements of their own simple animation to film. Cost: $75. For more information, click here.
