Unfortunately, schooling has taken the writing out of me for a little bit, but I can officially say that I'm done with my Bachelors degree from Towson University and it's time to figure out what I want to do for the next chapter of my life. I'm going to keep up with the upcoming shows for the upcoming weeks.

Tuesday 6/19: Cory Branan & Audra Mae - Music starts at 10PM - ALL AGES (Golden West Cafe) - Tickets $10.

The first time I caught Cory Branan was when he was one part of the singer/songwriters who joined the Bluebird Cafe stage for the first Country Throwdown Tour in 2010. Then again in the fall, when he was opening support for the Dashboard Confessional acoustic fall tour. He puts on an excellent live show and his lyrics will hit you straight where it hurts. I think Lucero said it best, "Cory Branan's got an evil streak and a way with words that will bring you to your knees. Oh, he can play the wildest shows and sing so sweet."

Branan released his latest ever, MUTT just last month on Bloodshot Records.

As for his opening act Audra Mae, I've been a fan of her music since I found her CD at Sound Garden in downtown Baltimore. I picked it up and wasn't able to put it down. For a week straight, The Happiest Lamb was my go to album. It's hard to describe her voice, but every song on that album I can relate to. I've only known about Audra Mae being in the Baltimore area twice in the past two years. Once, she played a free show at Towson University, basically the day I had orientation so I was unable to see her live show. However, I was able to catch Audra Mae this past winter when she was with her band Audra Mae & The Almighty Sound opening for Matt Nathanson on his All Night Noise Tour. She put on a great live show with her band, but that's not the Audra Mae I knew, so I'm looking forward to watching her at Golden West Cafe, if I'm able to make it to the show.

If you're in the same boat as me and might not be able to make Audra Mae's performance at Golden West Cafe, she has just been announced as one of the acts on the Silopanna Festival this year!

Wednesday 6/20: Fiona Apple - Music starts at 8PM - ALL AGES (The Lyric) - Tickets range $67.20-$87.75.

Fiona Apple's voice has haunted me for years, ever since her release of the song, "Criminal", I've been unable to get her voice out of my head. For the song, "Criminal", Apple recieved her first Grammy. If you know anything about Apple, you would know she was 19 when she recieved the Grammy, talk about awesome teenage years. "Criminal" was her first single from her debut album, Tidal in 1996. Since Tidal, Apple has released a couple more albums and taken a few hiatuses here and there, she will be returning with her fourth studio album The Idler Wheel... which will be released this Tuesday, June 19th (Clean State/Epic Records) which will make this her first album 7 years.

Thursday 6/21: The Sword - Doors at 8PM - ALL AGES (Sonar) - Tickets $15 (advance) $17 (day of show).

The Sword will be hitting Sonar on Thursday night and if you haven't seen the Sword live, you're missing out! I became aware of the band around 2006 or 2007 when I was working on a promotion for the band at the Sounds of the Underground tour. Does anyone still remember that tour?! Anyway, if we're all being honest here, I don't think I could tell you a single Sword song by the title. I've been able to catch the band numerous times and they get better every time I'm able to catch them. Openers for the night include Red Fang and Kyng.

Sonar is located at 407 E. Saratoga St. Baltimore, MD 21202.

Parking: Street parking (check for meters!), paid parking lot, and nearby garages.

Friday 6/22: Lucero - Doors at 8PM | Music at 9PM - ALL AGES (Rams Head Live) - Tickets $22 (advance) $25 (day of show).

Lucero, Lucero, Lucero! What more can be said about this band?! They're an alt-country band which makes me wish I had a bottle of vodka and a nice cold sweet tea to go with it while watching them. This isn't your average PBR band, although they could be. I would never condone drinking, who am I kidding? Yes, I would. If you're going to drink, it would be to this band. Even Drinkify.org suggests Bourbon and Ice Cream for listening to the band, you can see for yourself here: http://drinkify.org/lucero.

Anyway, Lucero has been killing it. Last time I caught them was at Warped Tour last year when I was able to find out that the next thing want to do is go on the Country Throwdown tour! I support this idea. Now don't get me wrong, I will watch Lucero in the pouring rain if I have to, but I must say the best time I caught them in recent years was when my friends and I drove 10 hours out to Kentucky for Krazy Fest. Best decision we ever made. However, I didn't have sweet tea or vodka, but instead a 1 gallon jug of water since the heat was crazy.

If you're broke this week and have to make it out to one show, this would be the one I would suggest you go to!

Saturday 6/23: The Rocket Summer - Doors at 7PM - ALL AGES (Sonar) - Tickets $15 (advance) $17 (day of show).

I won't lie, I didn't even know The Rocket Summer still toured but that's awesome and I back it and I wish more people did. I've never been a fan of the Rocket Summer's music but I will support any artist who I know is in it for the right reasons. The Rocket Summer has been touring all over the place since I can remember, which I think that was around 2005 but we can never be too sure. I lost my mind somewhere before and after college. Openers for the night include The Scene Aesthetic, States, and The Baby Grand.

Sonar is located at 407 E. Saratoga St. Baltimore, MD 21202.

Parking: Street parking (check for meters!), paid parking lot, and nearby garages.

Sunday 6/24: Ringo Starr - Doors at 7PM - ALL AGES (Meyerhoff Symphony Hall) - Tickets range $65-$270.

This needs no explanation. If you don't know who the Beatles are, I do not have the time to school your life. Get out and figure it out.

Meyerhoff Symphony Hall is located at 1212 Cathedral St. Baltimore, MD 21201.

Parking: Nearby garages.

RAIN: Tribute to the Beatles will be performing at Pier Six Pavilion the same night.

If you didn't pick up what I was putting down it's that singer/songwriters and alt-country is what I'm currently listening to. Cory Branan's coming to town and Lucero a few nights later, it's gonna be a good week. However, I'm sure I'll be spending some time of my week trying to figure out how I'm going to try to meet Aziz Ansari.

Remember when parking anywhere, lock up your vehicle and hide all your valuables. If you don't do this, you might be hurting yourself in the end. I feel like this should be common sense, but just in case you don't have that, here's your advice.

More advice, this is my opinion of where you should be. All information listed for the above shows was taken directly from the venues respective websites. Prices, times, and more can all change - so please check out the websites before heading down to the show!

The music scene is alive and well in Baltimore and you should support it!
