"There is nothing wrong with your Internet. Do not attempt to adjust the browser. We are now in control of the Los Angeles Cocktails Blog. We control the horizontal and the vertical. We can deluge you with a thousand ads, or expand one single image to crystal clarity and beyond. We can shape your vision to anything our imagination can conceive. For the next 422 words, we will control all that you see and read." (apologies to the Control Voice of The Outer Limits)

I, Aaron Vanek, the first Los Angeles Cocktails Examiner have hijacked Ramsey & Briana’s column for a triumphal (but brief) series of articles. I’ll be writing about something too cool to skip the chance for a press pass: The Sixth Annual San Diego Spirits Festival, coming to California’s southern city THIS WEEKEND, August 23 & 24, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are available here. They are $90 for Saturday and $85 for Sunday, but use the code SPIRITS and receive a $25 discount. The site has that discount listed right there. Strange, but take it.

And here’s the best part: ADMISSION GETS YOU ALL YOU CAN EAT AND DRINK! That’s 240 minutes (or 180 if Sunday) of non-stop eating and drinking in the Port Pavilion of San Diego, right on the shoreline just north of the USS Midway aircraft carrier.

This isn’t your college’s orgiastic drunken gluttony, it’s really tasty orgiastic drunken gluttony from some of the best bars and distillers in the realm, like Don Julio tequila, Zacapa Rum, Captain Morgan White Rum, Woodford Reserve bourbon, No. 209 gin, and Hangar One vodka. For food we have the yummy stylings of Blind Burro, The Melting Pot, Planet Rooth Barrel Smoker, The Hake Kitchen & Bar, Crazee Burger, The Patio,
San Luis Sour Dough, Mr Peabody’s, Zarco – Cocina De Baja, The Bellows, Jo’s Texas Brisket, Sliced Pizza Catering, Meze Greek Fusion, and more.

There will be spirits and cocktail wars, chef demonstrations, music, dance, and art festival and ALL YOU CAN EAT AND DRINK. Wait, I already typed that.

Oh yeah, and I’ll be there, at least until I go gonzo and am removed by security. You should be there, too. Get your tickets NOW, here.

Or read about it vicariously next week, and kick yourself for not coming this year.

I demand you have a designated driver or a staying in a local hotel if you’re an Angeleno on southern safari. Please, indulge your id responsibly. Cheers!
