Upcoming pet-related events for metro Atlanta

There are always exciting and fun events planned in the metro area for those that love animals.  Our animal shelters and rescue organizations work hard to keep interest high in protecting and providing for animals in need.  Check out some of these upcoming events and opportunities!

  • Send someone you love a photo Valentine from Good Mews. Each Valentine pictures an adorable kitty, and there are 6 styles from which to choose. Valentines cost $10 each and all proceeds support shelter operations at Good Mews. Order online from Good Mews and note that orders should be placed by February 3rd for Valentine’s Day delivery
  • Enter your cat or dog in the BISSELL Most Valuable Pet (MVP) photo contest by March 25th for the opportunity to have your pet featured on BISSELL packaging plus other prizes. See the Good Mews Web site for more information, or go directly to the BISSELL MVP contest Web site
  • On Saturday, February 20th, the cross-country Purina ONE Tour for Heroes will stop in Atlanta at the Atlanta Humane Society. From 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Tour will host an adoption event and give away FREE pet food (8-pound bags of Purina ONE dog food and 3.5-pound bags of Purina ONE cat food) while supplies last. For more information or to find out how to help with fundraising through Facebook, click here
  • Donate to Dr. Good’s Homeless Pets Foundation, which has saved over 10,000 dogs. See a wonderful video about Dr. Good on their Web site. Note: You will also see Lucy, a small dog cruelly mutilated and abandoned by her owner - it's very hard to see, but she is in good hands now.  Her care, including rehabilitative surgery, will be handled by Dr. Good's dedicated team.  Donations to Homeless Pets Foundation are tax-deductible, and all animals are fostered until adopted
  • Reserve your tickets for the Humane Society of Cobb County (HSCC) Valentines Gala: Hearts and Dreams. The Hearts and Dreams Gala will be held Saturday, February 13th, at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre on the Marietta square. This year’s theme is “Life is a Circus.” More on this event:
