Upcoming conferences of potential interest to the paranormal and UFO enthusiasts include Exploring the Extraordinary, ParaQuest and APICON. If taking to the highways and byways this spring, you might choose to consider attending the following events:

Exploring the Extraordinary, March 21-23

Gettysburg College, Pa. will be the site of the sixth Exploring the Extraordinary Conference. Co-founders Dr. Madeleine Castro and Dr. Hannah Gilbert organized an interdisciplinary network for those engaged and interested in research of the extraordinary, and their list of speakers includes numerous credentialed professionals. Regarding extraordinary experiences as "those that transcend the mundane", the network explores the paranormal, mystical and related concepts.

Dr. George P. Hansen, well known within the Fortean and UFO communities for his research and writing on the "trickster", will conduct a presentation titled, Structural Analysis and the Betwixt and Between. The keynote speaker will be author, researcher and co-founder of The Windbridge Institute, Dr. Julie Beischel. She will present A Scientist Among Mediums: Intriguing Findings from Ten Years of Laboratory Research. Additional topics addressed will include military response to anomalies and encouraging critical thinking during the three days of presentations.

Admission for the Friday through Sunday conference is $200, with various discounts and partial rates available. View the website for further details and information.

ParaQuest, April 26

Bedford Paranormal and Seven Hills Paranormal are co-sponsoring ParaQuest, a day of speakers, vendors and events taking place in Bedford, Va. The historic Avenel Plantation, located between Roanoke and Lynchburg, will host the conference.

Local and national authors, investigators and self-described mediums are among those scheduled to speak and attend. Jeff Ritzmann, host of Paranormal Waypoint on KGRA Radio, will conduct a two-hour presentation, sharing insights into his 20-plus years of research and observations. UFOs, paranormal-related archaeology, investigation techniques and more will be considered during the day's events. Cost is $40.

APICON, May 16-17

Aerial Phenomena Investigations will conduct APICON at Busch Gardens in Tampa, Fla. Speakers scheduled to address ufology-related topics include API founder and director Antonio Paris, Bill Birnes of 'UFO Hunters' fame and writer/researcher Nick Redfern, among others. The two-day conference includes opportunities to meet all of the speakers, a Friday night party, vendors and more.

A $65 cost covers all speakers and events for both Friday and Saturday, and single day admissions are available if desired. See the website for details and contact the organizers for further information.
