If you have been training your German Shepherd Dog in obedience and are now ready to enter an AKC obedience trial, there are many coming up in the Akron area over the next several months.
Here is a list of some obedience and/or rally trials coming up in and around the Akron area:
· March 10-11th (Saturday and Sunday) – Cleveland All Breed is hosting an obedience and rally trial. The closing date (the date in which they must receive your entry) is February 22nd.
· April 6-8th (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) – Youngstown All Breed will be holding an obedience and rally trial. Rally obedience will be on Friday while regular obedience will be on Saturday and Sunday. Closing date is April 4th.
· May 6th (Sunday) – The GSD Club of Northern Ohio will be holding a rally and obedience trial at the Medina Kennel Club training building. Closing date is April 18th.
· April 25-27th (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) – All Breed Training Club of Akron is holding a rally and obedience trial. Rally will be done on Friday with regular obedience being on Saturday and Sunday. Closing date for this event is April 25th.
· June 9-10th (Saturday and Sunday) – McKinley Kennel Club in Canton is holding a rally trial on Saturday and obedience trial on Sunday. Closing date will be May 23rd.
If you are interested in entering any of these trials, contact the hosting club to request a copy of the premium list when they are available.
If you are interested in seeing an obedience or rally trial but not ready to compete, going to watch is a great way to get comfortable with the environment. Remember to leave your dog at home if you are not competing with him.
