Winter in Chicago has been particularly brutal this year. Don't let it get you down completely! Although it may be difficult to get out and about, there are a few upcoming seminars in Chicago this winter. Stay warm, get some exercise and learn something new!

This Sunday, January 26, 2012 Degerberg Academy is hosting a Thai Boxing seminar at their Lincoln Square location. The seminar is divided up into three sections, which can be purchased individually or together. The sections vary from basic, intermediate and advanced levels of drilling with a separate rank exam at the end for those who qualify. General sparring gear including bag gloves and thai pads are required. Register by Friday, January 24 and get the advance pricing discount.

If ground fighting is more your speed (with perhaps a little bit of history thrown in) Forteza Fitness and Martial Arts is hosting a Medieval Wrestling seminar on Saturday February 15, 2014. (That happens to be the day after Valentine's Day for those of you looking for gift ideas.) The seminar will run from 12pm to 5pm and will cover escapes from various grips as well as various throws and locks ending with ground fighting techniques. The seminar will be lead by Jessica Finley, the principal instructor of Great Plains Fechtschule. Finley is also Judo practitioner holding the rank of Nikyu under Arden Cowherd of Topeka Judo Club. The cost of the seminar is $50 for members and $60 for non-members.

Contact Degerberg Academy at 773-728-5300 to register for Thai Boxing and Forteza Fitness at 733-271-3988 to register for Medieval Wrestling.
