Upcoming live events: Week of February 3rd, 2014

For the upcoming events in the area the format has changed for featured shows of the week and will focus on upcoming live shows Monday through Thursday. Another article will be released late Thursday night, early Friday morning for the events of the upcoming weekend.

Monday, February 3rd: NOISE IN THE BASEMENT - Doors at 8PM/Show at 8:30PM - The Ottobar

Tonight, 98 Rock will be hosting their weekly Noise In The Basement event, where they feature local talent from the area and showcase it live. You can hear most of the music that will be featured the evening before on the radio, then on Monday nights you can come out and see it live. This week will be a special treat because the artists performing are local favorites who have been gone for quite some time and they're reuniting. Local favorites Agents of the Sun have made it known that this is going to be the first of many shows for 2014. Other bands on the bill include Eleven:54, Fatally Yours, Great Mutant Skywheel, and many more. The event should be bringing out tons of familiar faces of Baltimore!

Openers for the night: Eleven:54, Fatally Yours, Great Mutant Skywheel, and more

Tuesday, February 4th: THE WILD FEATHERS - Doors at 7PM - U Street Music Hall

I haven't quite figured out why The Wild Feathers aren't huge right now. But I know they're certainly on their way and don't show any sign of slowing down. They're a five piece band out of Nashville that everyone can appreciate. They're one of those bands where I believe anyone can agree they're great. They've even played with the likes of Willie and Dylan. They played all the major festival circuits that they should have last year and I'm sure 2014 will be great for them. My suggestion to you is that you head down to DC for the night because U Street Music Hall only holds roughly 500. You should get your chance to see them in an intimate setting while you still can!

Openers for the night: Saints of Valory & Jamestown Revival

Wednesday, February 5th: YOUNG & SICK - Doors at 8:30PM/Show at 9PM - DC9

After doing a little research, the name Young & Sick shouldn't be too new to anyone who's in the LA know. When Young & Sick first started it was more of an art project, starting with arts prints for album covers for major artists and fashions. Since 2012, Young & Sick started releasing their own music. They turned down multiple contracts in the beginning so they could put their work on the internet for anyone to access. Luckily, I was able to check out the bands tracks through SoundCloud and Spotify. Fast forward to a couple years later, they're now on Harvest Records which is apart of Capitol and touring for the year. They have already announced that they will be performing at this year's Coachella. I expect nothing but great things for and from this band.

Openers for the night: Brenda & Black Girls

Thursday, February 6th: ERIC PASLAY - Doors at 7PM/Show at 8PM - Rams Head Live!

Every time I hear Eric Paslay's "Friday Night" on the radio, I just want to get up and dance. On Thursday night, he's going to be having a record release show in downtown Power Plant at Rams Head Live! The last time Eric was around these parts, he was opening for Eli Young Band and he did not disappoint. Thankfully, I've been following Eric's work since 2012 when I was able to check him out at Country Throwdown. I knew then that he was onto something with his catchy guitar and easy to relate to lyrics. If you have the time you should check out the interview I was able to catch with him back in 2012. I've included the link to the interview at the bottom of this article. Put your cowboy boots on and go down to Rams Head Live because we hardly ever get great country shows in the area. Unless it's something at the arena like Jason Aldean or Miranda Lambert, which I love them too but this will be a smaller setting and much more room to dance.

It might not be a Friday night, he still wants to be your Friday night (on a Thursday).

Openers for the night: Locals Pete Best

If this article has told you anything is that there are a ton of shows to check out in the surrounding areas and that's not even the beginning of it. As usual, I have included a list of other shows in the area to check out at the bottom of this article. If you want me to know about a show, please e-mail me directly at missalexasunshine@gmail.com.

Remember when parking anywhere, lock up your vehicle and hide all your valuables. If you don't do this, you might be hurting yourself in the end. I feel like this should be common sense, but just in case you don't have that, here's your advice.

More advice, this is my opinion of where you should be. All information listed for the above shows was taken directly from the venues respective websites. Prices, times, and more can all change - so please check out the websites before heading down to the show!

The music scene is alive and well in Baltimore and you should support it!
