So winter break is here and the kids are bored - well it has been 3 days since vacation started and a little over 24 hours since they tore into those Christmas presents. So once they have run in and out the back door 27 times it may be time to look for something new for them to do. Locally we are so lucky to have many great options. If you are looking for some great winter activities.
Howard Park Ice Rink downtown South Bend
The Compton family ice rink at Notre Dame also has public times available when it is too cold to skate outside.
Swiss Valley in Jones, Michigan offers great down hill skiing options, but there are many great County parks like S. Patrick's County park in South Bend that offer Cross Country Skiing.
If you have not seen it yet the Kroc Center is more than a traditional gym. The aquatics center offers a 21' free fall through a tunnel of quick winding turns into a splash landing. Float on the lazy river or take a spin in a vortex.
Biking and Skating
If biking is your thing, head to one of the largest indoor biking complexes in North America that is open to the public. Open many days noon to 9PM the park will host a lock in on New Years Eve for riders from 10PM-7AM. Professional riders occaisionally stop by to jam and the music is always on.
