Upcoming events raise spirits and needed funds for area rescues

Who says there is nothing to do in Dayton in the winter? Several area shelters and rescue groups have upcoming events that promise to be great fun while raising much-needing funding.

Do you like to bowl? Columbus-based rescue PetPromise is hosting a bowling fundraiser on Sunday, January 20 from 2-4 p.m. at Sequoia Pro Bowl, 5501 Sandalwood Blvd, Columbus, Ohio 43229.

The cost of Strikes for Strays is $25 per person ($125 for a team of 5) and this includes pizza, pop and rental shoes. Prizes will be awarded for top individual and team scores. You can find more details here. If you would like to be on a team, please contact Terri at this email terri@columbusrabbit.org

Pet Promise is a wonderful organization whose rescue work, outreach and public education efforts are valuable assets to the community and literal lifesavers for abandoned pets in the Columbus Area. While Pet Promise generally focuses on rescue work involving dogs and cats, they very kindly took in stray rabbits in the summer of 2011 and worked with Columbus House Rabbit Society to get the rabbits placed in homes. .

CHRS is encouraging their members and any interested member of the public to attend this fun event! This promises to be a great social event and an opportunity to get to know the members of Pet Promise and the CHRS while having fun bowling!

PetPromise is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping homeless pets through education, rescue, sterilization, and adoption. PetPromise does not have a shelter or sanctuary yet, although the capital campaign is underway to secure funds to build a PetPromise Adoption Center. Currently, all rescued pets are cared for in volunteer foster homes until they are adopted.

Don’t miss the Luv Some Bunny wine tasting (or not) event! On Saturday, Feb 2, 2012 at Deer Haven Nature Preserve in Delaware, Ohio (near Columbus) you can enjoy a wonderful event hosted by the Ohio House Rabbit Rescue (the same folks who bring you Midwest BunFest)! Between 4:30 and 7:00 p.m., you will enjoy a guided winter hike through the nature preserve, then relax with OHRR and sample a variety of wines brought to you by a special guest (to be announced). There is a non-wine-tasting option as well, and a silent auction with great prizes! This is perfect for treating yourself, for enjoying a night out with the girls (or guys), or a really fun date night! Proceeds go to the Ohio House Rabbit Rescue.

Tickets are $35 for Wine-Tasting participants and $20 for Non-Wine Tasting participants. For directions or to pre-order your tickets, go here.
