Upcoming DREDF workshop will teach parents about the special education process

DREDF, The Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund, is a civil rights law and policy center that works to advance the rights of people with disabilities. Among its many services for parents are free trainings and parent advocacy to help families negotiate the special education system. The next training is on Monday, October 10.


 
Understanding the Special Education Process: IEP Basics & Beyond

  • Parents can learn the ins and outs of special education at sessions held on the second Monday of each month. These trainings offer an overview of the special education process, Section 504 (a civil rights law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of disability), and IDEA, the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act.
  • The next training is on Monday, October 10, 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm (Pizza and drinks included)
