Upcoming concerts in Baltimore: A songwriter weekend (Photos)

The live music scene in Baltimore is already looking great for 2013!

On Saturday, January 5th, Graham Colton will be taking the stage at Eutaw Place. A few years ago, I was able to check out Graham when he was the opening act for the Vanessa Carlton tour. If I can recall, the closest the tour came was actually to the Birchmere in Virginia. I'm glad I made the road trip out for the show. It's very rare for me to be blown away by a newer artist and when I saw Graham, I was floored. At the time, he wasn't even that new of an artist. I checked out his work and he mostly performed with a band. For Vanessa Carlton's tour, he was singing solo without his band accompaniment and his voice did not miss a beat. Even though the tour was a few years back, I can still recall most of the songs he played, and I remember being particularly fond of his song, "Forget About You". When he performed the song, it gave me chills. I remember he performed the song mostly without even strumming on his guitar for too much and it was amazing. You have to see this man to believe my words. If you're able to make it, I hope you are moved as much as me.

As of around 8 PM, Eutaw Place's Facebook stated there are still plenty of tickets available for Graham's show. You should be alright getting tickets at doors, but if you're worried, I suggest just giving a call to the venue to see if it looks to be selling out. Also, for Graham's show, each ticket will receive a digital copy of the show to take home! Tickets are $20 at the door or $15 for students with valid student ID. Doors are at 7PM and show starts at 8PM.

For Sunday, January 6th, Baltimore Soundstage has a few singer/songwriters that will be taking the stage. The bill features Ryan Cabrera, Teddy Geiger, and Tyler Hilton. I won't lie, I only know about such artists because I used to eat up all of the TV shows that MTV aired, including Ashlee Simpson's show where I was first introduced to Cabrera and eventually his music.

Geiger's music actually hit my radar by watching a reality show titled Miss Seventeen and if you have ever seen The Rocker, then Teddy might look a little familiar to you as well. He is best known for his song, "For You I Will", and if you can recall the video from that song, you may remember Kristin Cavallari of MTV's Laguna Beach being the lead girl.

I still have yet to actually hear anything by Tyler Hilton, but one day I'm sure I will. Doors are at 7 PM and show at 8 PM.

For the show, ReferLocal.com currently has a deal for the event where tickets are only $12. If you are able to purchase tickets in advance, make sure to check out the deal at ReferLocal.com.

Baltimore Soundstage is located at 124 Market Place Baltimore, MD 21202.

This weekend looks like it will be great for anyone who is interested in singer/songwriter type music. Granted, when I say singer/songwriter - I say that term lightly because I know there are a lot of singer/songwriters around. These four guys can be more classified as pop music, that is a little independent.

As always, I've made a Spotify mix that you can check out to hear some of the songs from the artists.

  1. Graham Colton - "Forget About You"
  2. Graham Colton - "Best Days"
  3. Graham Colton - "Our Story"
  4. Tyler Hilton - "Missing You"
  5. Tyler Hilton - "Glad (Acoustic)"
  6. Teddy Geiger - "These Walls"
  7. Teddy Geiger - "For You I Will (Confidence)"
  8. Ryan Cabrera - "True"
  9. Ryan Cabrera - "On The Way Down"

Keep checking back here, I'll be listing my best albums of 2012 and most anticipated albums for 2013 lists shortly!
