Recent reports that Infinity Ward’s first DLC offering for Call of Duty: Ghosts will release later this month on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One have now been confirmed to be true. As reported by Game Informer on Jan 13, Activision has announced that the Onslaught DLC will release on Jan 28 as a timed exclusive on Microsoft consoles. The DLC will later release on PS3, PS4, and PC at a date that will be announced in the future.
As was expected, the DLC adds new maps for the game’s multiplayer modes in addition to new weapons and the first part in an episodic series for the Extinction game mode. However, one of the biggest surprise announcements is the fact that one of the add-on’s upcoming multiplayer maps features an interesting gameplay mechanic that will delight horror movie fans. While playing on the new Fog game map, anyone who completes a field order will then be able to play as Michael Myers from Halloween fame. When a player takes on the role of the slasher legend, the game will begin playing the movie’s theme as the killer begins to hunts down his prey.
Call of Duty: Ghosts is out now on Xbox One, PS4, PC, Wii U, Xbox 360, and PS3. The Onslaught DLC releases later this month for the Xbox One and Xbox 360, with the add-on releasing on additional platforms at a later date.
