Boston's favorite doll - Dresden Doll, that is – is staging a “ninja gig” in Harvard Square on Thursday, July 8th. Amanda Palmer is one of those celebrities who are sort of famous everywhere, but REALLY famous here. Luckily, she loves her hometown fans just as much as they love her. Palmer’s fans are diehards, with voracious appetites for her art, and she happily dishes it out.
Lately, Palmer has taken to doing “ninja gigs.” Announced at the last minute on her blog and Twitter, these shows are largely based on word of mouth (and word of Tweet). They’re low-key, personal, and as unique as the artist putting them on.
Thursday’s will take place at the A.R.T.’s main stage, at 64 Brattle Street in Cambridge. Doors will open at 3:50 PM, and from 4:00 – 5:15, Palmer will “play ukulele, rap about life, take questions, and generally hang out.” She’ll also be signing autographs after the performance.
