A discussion in the background of a video posted to YouTube last week would appear to indicate that Michael Brown, the 18-year-old shot in Ferguson, Missouri, by officer Darren Wilson, "doubled back" and charged police officer Darren Wilson, the Daily Caller reported Sunday.
“How’d he get from there to here?” a bystander asked a man who reportedly saw Wilson shoot Brown. The witness is heard telling the bystander that Brown ran.
“He was like, over the truck, [garbled] so then he ran," the witness said when asked why Brown ran in a certain direction. "Police got out, and ran after him,” the witness added.
“Next thing I know he’s coming back towards the police," the witness said. "The police had his gun drawn on him."
“Police kept dumping on him, I’m thinking that the police missed him,” he continued. The witness said he heard “at least five shots” being fired.
“I think…dude start running, kept coming toward the police," the witness added. The statement differs from accounts provided by Dorian Johnson, a friend of Brown's.
According to Johnson, Wilson drew his gun and fired after the two men struggled. Wilson continued shooting as Brown was surrendering, Johnson and others have said.
But the witness on the video said nothing about Brown raising his hands. Breitbart said the "private conversation minutes after the incident seems untainted by any desire to protect or tarnish the reputation of either Brown or the police." Moreover, the account seems to back up a story told to Dana Loesch by a woman claiming to be Darren Wilson's friend.
"And then Michael just bum-rushes him and shoves him back into his car," the friend told Loesch. "Punches him in the face and them Darren grabs for his gun."
"Michael grabbed for the gun. At one point he got the gun entirely turned against his hip. And he shoves it away. And the gun goes off," the friend added.
According to the friend, Brown "took off" and got about 35 feet when Wilson ordered him to "freeze." Brown, the friend added, turned around and taunted Wilson. Brown then "just started bumrushing" Wilson "at him full speed." That's when Wilson fired, the woman told Loesch. Brown, however, kept coming at Wilson, causing him to believe the 18-year-old may have been on drugs, the friend said.
Conservative Treehouse blogger "Sundance" said the man in the video described the exact same scenario told by Wilson's friend. Sundance said the discussion is valuable "because it is unguarded, and unprompted, testimony from an eyewitness that contradicts several others who spoke later but may have an agenda or pressure from the community."
