Spring has sprung and so has the return of sales in and around Wheaton, Illinois. The sales are in the form of estate and garage sales. People flock to find new treasures that they just have to have.
For the past three days, an estate sale was conducted on the northeast corner of Wheaton. The sweet woman that lived there had passed away just a few days before Christmas and her home that was filled with the treasures from around the world had to be emptied in order for her home to be sold.
As people were filing in and out with their bags and boxes, one entirely unusual shopper arrived at the door on the heels of a very nice young woman. The tall, dark and furry character sniffed his way through the front door and then made his way enthusiastically from one room to another, seemingly to check out the goods that had been staged accordingly. The large dog acted as if estate sales were a full-time hobby for him. He was only ready to leave the sale when he was offered a couple of organic dog biscuits.
For dog lovers everywhere it is quite endearing to witness a dog visiting a sale. For individuals that are afraid of dogs, it is anything but ideal. This dog did not seem to mind though that his presence was not welcomed by everyone else that was there to shop.
Although dog lovers would love to know that they would be able to bring their pooch to spring, summer and fall sale events, not every home would be opened to canines that are out for a sense of adventure. Dogs do have a tendency to advocate sales – no matter what type of sales they are.
Last year an article appeared on Examiner.com about a baby store in Wheaton that has a canine representative named Quincy. Several customers a week stop in simply because cute little Quincy sits in the front window drawing the customers’ attention like a siren song. It would calculate that this trick of utilizing adorable, fun-loving canines as sales motivators would work no matter what you were selling.
More and more sales will develop over the next few warm months. Keep a lookout for the shopping canine. This dog really knows how to seek out a biscuit deal. You just never know where and when he will show up next!
