In the event you are still under some childishly delusional belief that there is any semblance of “equality” or “freedom” left in the U.S. you probably don’t want to read the following.
From the “let them eat cake” philosophy of the troglodytes (think of the rulers in the original Planet of the Apes) on the Fifth US Circuit Court of Appeals is the ruling that upheld as constitutional the Texas law that just about insures that defenseless, poor women in Texas won’t have a safe alternative when it comes to reproductive rights, Roe v. Wade notwithstanding.
The law and ruling are most interesting when studied under the discerning eye of anything rational.
The ruling class of Texas red is that class that demand, by god, to be let alone to do as they will. There’s just too much “government” interference" in our lives. Too much interference indeed!!! Unless of course it has to do with a woman’s reproductive rights. Then all bets are off and the same misanthropes who want no one telling them what to do are way too eager to do just that.
And speaking of mid-term elections, from the “representative form of governance” desk is this---if you happen to need to talk to your member of congress---unless you have lots of money---that’s just not going to happen.
“In the debate about poverty, critics argue that government assistance saps initiative and is unaffordable. After exploring the issue, I must concede that the critics have a point. Here are five public welfare programs that are wasteful and turning us into a nation of "takers."
First, welfare subsidies for private planes. The United States offers three kinds of subsidies to tycoons with private jets: accelerated tax write-offs, avoidance of personal taxes on the benefit by claiming that private aircraft are for security, and use of air traffic control paid for by chumps flying commercial.
And that’s just for starters. “I worry about those tycoons sponging off government. Won't our pampering damage their character? Won't they become addicted to the entitlement culture, demanding subsidies even for their yachts? Oh, wait …”
But not to worry a people dumbed down by ever more aggressive capitalist extremists and their for-profit charter schools in league with the apartheid public education system won’t even notice.
Basically, private corporations are growing richer and richer dumbing down the children who are the future of this country. The result is generations of the dumbed down and more income inequality. These for-profit charter schools often don’t have to hire certified teachers are corporate owned and backed by ALEC, a right-wing group of profiteers.
Meanwhile on another front, “Ever since the Watergate era, taxpayers have been able to check a box on their federal tax returns and designate a little bit of their tax payment to help finance the presidential campaigns and wean politicians away from big donors.
The public financing program has had its ups and downs. But now President Obama is prepared to sign legislation that, for the first time, takes taxpayer money out of the fund.”
Did I hear someone say, “change!” or “Si se puede?”
From Texas Red: a cratered landscape of for profit prisons, deplorable apartheid public education, lack of healthcare and politicians and majority population intent on keeping it that way…
