This dish is one that my mother made for us all the time. It is so simple, so delicious and so comforting. The problem was, everytime I made it I felt something was missing. I have changed a few ingredients from Moms original recipe and I think it tastes just wonderful. Just don’t tell mom. This is still, to this day one of my favorite comfort foods. Enjoy!!
2 lbs of ground beef
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 (15 ounce) cans of diced tomatoes
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 can cranberry sauce (jellied)
1 head of cabbage, shredded
Combine ground beef, garlic and egg and form into meatballs.
Brown meatballs in a large pot until mostly cooked through. Drain any excess oil.
Add diced tomatoes, tomato paste and cranberry sauce. Mix until blended into a smooth sauce. Add cabbage and cook until cabbage is softened and meatballs are cooked through,about 45 minutes, stirring constantly.
Serve over rice.
