Unspecified threat prompts evacuation at Texas school, possible bomb

A potentially explosive device discovered on Monday morning at Seven Lakes High School in Katy, Texas near Houston prompted the evacuation of students and faculty.

The FBI is now on the scene assisting the Harris County bomb squad with the investigation of the suspicious device, which could be a bomb.

Katy Independent School officials said all students were safely evacuated to an enclosed area on the baseball and football field of the high school, and are asking parents to please stay away from the high school.

Parents may pick up their students at the Seven Lakes Junior High School. All after-school activities have been canceled at the high school for Monday.

Reuters reports that a student was taken into custody after a possible explosive device was discovered near the school campus.

There are no further details on the explosive device or the identity of the student taken into police custody.
