High pressure off the Carolina coast this morning will keep a southerly to southwesterly flow of milder air streaming into the region today. A cold front will sweep through the area overnight tonight and early Tuesday morning, bringing some light rain showers (perhaps some light snow for the higher elevations). This will be followed by a brief break during the day on Tuesday, before another system tracks eastward toward the region for the midweek period, bringing another threat for showers of rain in the lower elevations and snow in the higher elevations.

The pattern of fast moving weather systems looks to persist into the end of the work week, but of note will be the forecast passage of a stronger, more potent, cold front on Friday that could usher in some much colder air in time for the weekend.
