Unsettled and mainly cloudy weather continues with scattered snow showers (Photos)

More of the same continues today as an upper level low, now rather elongated, influences our weather with an abundance of clouds and scattered snow showers, especially west of the Hudson Valley this morning. A series of disturbances continue to drop south on the back side of the upper low and another will impact the region late today into this evening with a round of light snow or snow showers for much of the region and some minor accumulations of a coating to an inch in the valley locations and around 1-3 inches in the higher terrain to the north. This may also make roads a bit slick later tonight, similar to last night, so keep that in mind.

This upper low will continue to bring scattered snow showers through the rest of the weekend but will slowly loosen its influence into early next week with improving conditions. A strong disturbance will then drop southeast out of the High Plains early to middle part of the week and develop a storm in the Deep South, but as of this time, it looks to remain south of the Capital Region and might bring some significant snow to the mid-Atlantic. We will continue to monitor this potential and advise of any changes in the computer models.
