He has been named the No. 1 deadbeat dad.
The title was given to parent Robert Sand after it was discovered he owed $1.2 million in unpaid child support.
The news comes in to a chilly San Francisco from a report in the Washington Post.
The debt arises from Sand having three children from two marriages that did not work out.
In addition the principal sum, Sand has also incurred a number of penalties from the unpaid support.
According to the Washington Post, Sand has pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court in Central Islip on Long Island to the charge of failing to pay two counts of child support.
He could be imprisoned for up to four years if the judge decides to give him that sentence in May.
Now Sand faces up to four years in prison when the judge hands down the sentence.
Sand's lawyers have entered a plea bargain in which Sand has to pay complete restitution to the mothers involved.
The moms involved in the case have told press they would prefer it if Sand stayed out of prison so he could work off the debt. If Sand goes to prison, the three children concerned in the case will not actually see any of the child support Sand hasn't paid.
Sand was not caught before because he disappeared first to Florida and then to Thailand. He came back to the USA last year.
It's only now that this man from New York must pay the price. And that price is high.
