Michael David Mallery, 48, the vice president for finance and administration at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., has been charged with the sexual abuse of two relatives under the age of 18.
According to a report from Oregon Live, Mallery turned himself in to the Washington County Sheriff's Office on Jan. 21. The high ranking official from Pacific University was taken into custody and booked on seven counts of first-degree sex abuse.
Mallery was being held on $175,000 bail.
The sexual abuse of his two young relatives is alleged to have occurred in 2010 and 2013.
Joe Lang, a Pacific University spokesman, said Tuesday afternoon that he was not aware of Mallery's arrest and did not immediately have an update on his status with the school.
The Daily Mail reported that one of Mallery’s 11-year-old relatives told a teacher that Mallery inappropriately touched the child last May. The investigation into Mallery’s alleged sexual abuse has been ongoing since that time.
… another family member, who is now 15 years old, made a similar complaint against Mallery in 2010. No criminal charges were filed in that case at the time.
Before joining Pacific University in 2010 as vice president for finance and administration, Mallery served four years as the vice provost for finance and academic administration at Oregon Health & Science University.
Mallery is currently taking a personal leave of absence from Pacific University.
