University of Texas: Another campus shooting and suicide

We’ve all pictured snipers shooting down at students from the campus clock tower.  That clichéd image actually originated 40 years at the University of Texas (UT) after a gunman climbed to the top of the UT clock tower and fired down upon the local student population.

Today, a student wearing a dark suit and a ski mask opened fire with an assault rifle on that same University of Texas campus before escaping into the library and fatally shooting himself.

Amazingly, no one else from the UT campus was injured in the shooting.

The shooting began near a fountain in front of the infamous UT Tower.

The Travis County Medical Examiner has identified Colton Tooley, 19, as the student who killed himself earlier today.

Tooley, a sophomore mathematics major from Austin, began firing an AK-47 assault rifle near the Littlefield Fountain at about 8:10 am.

Authorities determined that Tooley was a lone gunman, and there were no other shooters.

Officers from the University of Texas Police Department and the Austin Police Department responded to the report and pursued Tooley, who went into the Perry-Castañeda Library.  Emergency procedures were implemented.  The building was evacuated, text messages were sent to the university community and the outdoor siren and loudspeaker system was activated.

The University issued an all-clear notice a few hours after the shooting.

Thank goodenss the University of Texas tragedy that happened 40 years ago wasn't repeated when gunman Colton Tooley opened fire today on the same campus. How sad that this young man felt he had to take his own life.

What a tragedy; we need to find preventive action from further incidences like this. In the aftermath, there will surely be much analysis.

This is terrible, preventive action needs to be put in place to prevent this from happening again.

What a crock, the media so blatantly feminist controlled that it is pathetic. That wasn't a school "shooting" and I doubt anyone was at risk. It is a joke that police where "well trained" for this situation. This was a horrible event to be sure, but not for the reasons your stating.

This young man was driven to public suicide. It would have been no different if he lit himself on fire.
Sure he fire shot's in the air, but if they where really "warning shot" or even a violent display of defiant aggression, he would of shot the guy he made eye contact with.

But instead he had a "let it all burn look", and the shot's at the Church, the library and into the air scream of a "F U".

Make no mistake the feminist controlled educational system(look up how the educational system was changed after the AAUW lied about the "girl crisis" in the early 90's) is oppressive, blatantly bigoted and discriminatory towards male's. Often in a different way for a different race. Black young men are often coddled to the point of self destruction(look at how many African American male students commit suicide after they start to fail).

White young men are often demonized and used as a punching bag. And the blatant and often unbridled hostility towards Asian young men(and often Asian young women) is truly alarming.

All the while everyone around them is acting like it ain't happening and sweeping it under the rug because it is inconvenient. Until the discrimination against males in our society is dealt with I fear instances of this type of public suicide will only increase.
