As National Hobby Month comes to a close at the end of January, Libby Segal's quest to try a new hobby once a week for a year has nearly come to fruition, reports NBC News.
Self-dubbed the "Hobby Hoarder," Segal, a University of Rhode Island grad, spent the last year stunt jumping, swimming with sharks, walking on stilts and brewing beer.
But flying planes, she says, she liked best.
"Piloting a plane has been my absolute favorite hobby, I did it twice, that's how much I enjoyed it," Segal said.
In fact, several of her favorite hobbies include flying through the air -- trapeze, hang gliding and sky diving.
Her goal since last February has been to try a new, extreme hobby once a week for 52 weeks, a mark she's already eclipsed.
Among the most interesting hobbies Segal faced included samurai sword fighting, which she didn't know existed before embarking on her lofty journey.
Oh, and pole dancing.
"I knew I had to start the project with something no one really expected me to ever try," Segal said.
"It was absolutely outside my comfort zone, all about self image," she added.
Throughout this experience, Segal said she's kept up with her two main hobbies, writing and video editing, all the while documenting her experience on her, TheHobbyHoarder.com.
She says she hopes to write a book some day with the hopes of inspiring others.
"Once you start trying everything, you find the only thing you're incapable of is being incapable. You can really do anything," Segal said.
And the yellow glasses in her videos, those, she says, represents her bright outlook on life.
Segal says she'll wrap up her project next month with a road trip.
