University of Oklahoma shooting; Shots fired at Gould Hall, a dormitory?

University of Oklahoma officials are reporting a shooting on campus in Norman. According to its site, the educational facility is asking people to avoid Gould Hall, a dormitory, and to take shelter.

Here's the official alert from the University of Oklahoma:

"11:24AM: Shooting on campus. Avoid Gould Hall. Seek immediate shelter in place.

11:39AM: No new information at this time. Remain sheltered in place.

11:45AM: No new information at this time. Remain sheltered in place.

UPDATE: 12:05PM: As of this time, no evidence has been found of any shots being fired. There are no injuries reported at this time. President Boren is at the scene. Normal campus operations have resumed except for Gould Hall where additional checking is continuing."

At first, local television reports did confirm that shots were fired at Gould Hall. Police are on the scene as the story of a possible University of Oklahoma shooting unfolds but now seems unlikely. Stay tuned for details of this possible event that, if it happened, it happened a day after a shooting at Purdue University.
