The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is presenting a new series of educational workshops in 2014 with leading experts in the field of integrative medicine and clinical nutrition. The Integrative and Complementary Academic Medicine Programs (iCamp) in collaboration with the Institute for Functional Medicine is presenting a series of conferences that will address basics of clinical nutrition as well as specialized topics. Topics to be addressed include functional cardiology, dietary influence on hormonal balance, cognitive function and clinical nutrition, therapeutic protocols for common conditions, integrative approaches for mood and anxiety disorders, and integrative cancer care.
Guest speakers for this conference series include David Blyweiss, MD, David Haase, MD, William Harris, PhD, Robert Hedaya, MD, Mark Houston, MD, Shilpa Saxena, MD, Michael Stone, MD, Alex Vasquez, DO, DC, ND, Keith Block, MD, Aviad Haramati, PhD, Bethany Hays, MD, and Scott Shannon, MD. They will join University of Miami School of Medicine faculty physicians in presenting cutting edge information on using integrative medicine to support optimal patient outcomes. This conference series is designed to help health care professionals enhance their knowledge about using integrative approaches to treat patients. With extensive research evidence on the benefits of these treatments now available and increasing public interest in these complementary healing approaches, it is important for physicians to gain greater understanding of how nutrition and other complementary approaches can be implemented to support patient health.
The conference dates in 2014 are January 4th & 11th, February 1st and 8th, March 15th & 22nd, April 5th & 12th, and May 2nd, 3rd,& 17th. Early registration discounts for those attending end on December 1st, 2013. Those attending must register for the conference series, not just for individual dates.
