University of Maine women lose conference opener

BANGOR-- The University of Hartford women's basketball outscored the University of Maine 14-4 in overtime, to earn a 66-56 victory at Cross Insurance Center on Wednesday evening.

Liz Wood recorded 12 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and two steals to lead the Black Bears.

Mikaela Gustafsson scored 12 points (5-8 FG) and pulled down seven rebounds. Ashleigh Roberts added 11 points and six rebounds.

It was the 18th straight win for Hartford against Maine.

Freshman Deanna Mayza led the Hawks with 18 points and seven assists.

Alyssa Reeves came off the bench to score 15 points for Hartford.

Maine will travel to Northeastern this weekend. The Black Bears will not get back to conference play until January 8th.
