University of Maine women defeat Vermont 69-52

While Eastern Maine was busy digging out of the most recent snowstorm, the University of Maine women's basketball team was busy earning their sixth conference win of the season.

Liz Wood and Ashleigh Roberts scored 17 points each to lead the Black Bears to a 69-52 victory over the University of Vermont at Patrick gym in Burlington, Vermont.

The Black Bears went on a 16-2 run to take a 20-9 lead with 13:20 remaining in the first half.

Vermont went on a 13-2 run of their own to even the score at 22.

Maine ended the half on a 9-1 run, as they took a 34-26 halftime lead.

The Black Bears got the lead as high as 23 in the second half.

Chantel Charles and Sigi Koizar came off the bench to score seven points each.

The Black Bears are now 12-11 overall and 6-4 in America East play.

Maine is scheduled to host Binghamton on Sunday afternoon.
