There will be a live auction as well with some incredible items to be bid on. One important Live item is funding for the University of Chicago's Celiac research project. This Mouse Model project, headed by Dr. Bana Jabri, is researching the underlying cause of Celiac Disease in hope of finding a cure.
The doors will open at 6 pm. The food stations, open bar and silent auction will start at this time. The food stations will be open til 9pm with the silent auction ending a few minutes after. Gail Pierce also mentioned that a short presentation will begin shortly thereafter. During the seated presentation, DaLuciano's restaurant will be providing their world famous gluten-free Tiramisu. Both are definitely something not to be missed!
The live auction will begin after the seated presentation and the event will wrap up at around 10pm.
The donations from this event not only go towards the “Mouse Model” research project but enables the Center to provide free testing at the annual Blood Screening event in the fall, provide information to all on their Hotline, run the Preceptorship Program for medical professionals, as well as cover the cost of the free Care Package Program given to those in the U.S. and Canada who have been newly biopsy diagnosed with Celiac Disease. These care packages include various gluten-free food samples, information and coupons.
Gail Pierce says that what is so wonderful about this event is “for those who have Celiac Disease or Gluten Intolerance, it is the one big event where we can truly enjoy a delicious meal, without any worries about it being safe. For us, it’s like being a kid in a (gluten free) candy store. “
