While there's a lot to the Mardi Gras celebration at Universal Studios Florida, including Cajun food, street performers, bands, and headliner concerts, the festive parade is always a big draw. It features authentic floats created by Blaine Kern Artists in New Orleans, plus lots of talented performers and a veritable hailstorm of beads.
This year, Mardi Gras kicked off at Universal Orlando Resort on Feb. 9. Click the video toward the bottom of this article to see a video of the full parade. It featured a dozen floats, four of which are new for 2013. Three celebrate world cultures, focusing on Mexico, India, and China, while the four salutes New Orleans jazz.
The parade kicks off with the Orange County motorcycle patrol before the festively lighted floats take to the streets. They're exquisitely detailed, but that's sometimes hard to notice as you frantically try to catch the beads.
If you have kids in tow, check out the Little Jesters area. It's a special viewing spot designated exclusively for youngsters.
If you'd like to learn more about the four new floats, go back to part one of this article for a video and slideshow. If you want to see them for yourself, the parade runs on select weekend nights through April 20.
