On Friday, Sept. 20, the gates of the underworld were once again pried open, as the streets of Universal Studios Florida took on a hauntingly fun aura. This year, the Universal Orlando Resort unleashed the horror of some of the most terrifying names in entertainment with Halloween Horror Nights 23.
The 2013 event features eight all-new, disturbingly real haunted houses based on some of the most recognizable names in horror, including AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” survival video game series, “Resident Evil,” and critically acclaimed films “Evil Dead,” “The Cabin in the Woods” and “An American Werewolf in London.” Recently named the nation’s best Halloween event for the sixth consecutive year, Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights takes place select nights now until Nov. 2.
Early reviews are very positive, and this Local Getaways examiner, though not privy to media night or the horrors of a scary delivery from FedEx, still has hopes that the grim reaper will soon deliver the reward of the most coveted tickets in the haunt industry. A guy can dream, right? (Or should it be in my nightmares?) Stay tuned to this column for reviews of some of the best Halloween events in town, including Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens, Fright Nights at the South Florida Fairgrounds, and more!
