The feature film 'Drive' starring Ryan Gosling and Bryan Cranston is now in pre-production and there will be an open casting call in Los Angeles on August 14, 2010 for principle roles, featured parts, and Background. The film is about a stunt driver with a sketchy past who becomes the target of the Mob after being the driver for a botched bank heist.
Marc Platt will co-produce. Platt's films include Legally Blonde, Wanted, Rachel Getting Married, Nine, Charlie St. Cloud, among others. Marc Platt Productions has a production deal with Universal Pictures. Drive is based on the James Sallis novel of the same name.
Production is looking for Hispanic Men and Women who look like they are from the inner city or "East LA" types. For the men they are looking for young "Cholo" tattooed gangster thug types. For the females, they are looking for young hispanic women who look like they have had a hard life. Production does not want anyone who looks too polished, or to much like an Actor or Actress. They want it to look very authentic to some of the Lower class areas of LA that are predominately hispanic.
Details on the open casting call are on the following blog post:
