The most popular stores in America is a list that has been released by 24/7 Wall St on Tuesday. Naturally, the ten businesses making the list are stores that practially everyone in the United States knows. However, the ordered-ranking of the top ten businesses may surprise people.
The list was compiled by 24/7 based on data they received from a consumer-habits data service provider named Placed. Placed reportedly monitors behavior of more than 150,000 consumer outlets which are primarily food, discount retail and pharmaceutical outlets. According to the report, half off the retailers Americans are visiting these days are fast-food restaurants or stores that are chains throughout the country.
The reason for these being the most popular stores, as explained by Placed founder and CEO David Shim, is logical. A person doesn’t need household supplies every day, but people need eat three or more times per day. Naturally, he says, there is a higher propensity for the masses to visit the food businesses more often.
Yet, a fast-food chain store is not in the top spot. McDonald’s, Burger King, Subway, Taco Bell and all the rest were bested by a place that does have food, but it is not a business that is a fast-food restaurant. Not a surprise at all – after you think about it – Wal-Mart is America’s business with the most traffic in and out of its doors. Like McDonalds and the other fast-food chains that made the top ten, however, Walmart has what people want and need when it comes to prices. The low prices keep people coming in and out of the doors of such businesses.
Beyond the food and the doable prices for Americans in these economic times, the availability of stores also comes into play. Besides Walgreens practically living up to its ad campaign of being “down on the corner” – many corners in many towns across the country - the other businesses on the list are well-available for consumers to access. Accessibility is undoubtedly how a more pricey businesses such as 7-Eleven made the list.
