Proving that even our pet bird companion animals are at risk from the rampant recalls of products due to possible Salmonella contamination, United Pet Group Incorporated announced yesterday the voluntary recall of certain of its bird food products. The specific products (see list below) has as one of its ingredients - parsley flakes from Specialty Commodities, Inc. - an ingredient which prompted the recall of Kasel Associated Industries products, just last week.
The specific products being recalled by United Pet Group and their details, are:
Ultra Blend Gourmet, Food for Parakeets (80 oz bag)

UPC 26851 00512 Item # B512 / 11-20711 – USE BY date: 12/05/15
While there have been no reported illnesses due to Salmonella contamination from these products, the company urges you to safely dispose of these products if you have purchased the specific ones in the voluntary recall. If you have purchased these products, please contact United Pet Group's Consumer Affairs team at 1 (800) 645-5145, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time for a refund.
