United Concordia, a leader in active duty dental care, offers free kids book

United Concordia Dental is offering a free oral health activity book for children, ages 4-11, via download from the company's website during National Children's Dental Health Month in February.

United Concordia is passionate about taking care of military members, veterans and their families. Since 2009, United Concordia has administered the Active Duty Dental Program (ADDP), providing dental benefits for 1.4 million active duty service members.

For the past four years, United Concordia has provided dental benefits for active duty service members who are either referred by the military Dental Treatment Facilities to the civilian dental community for care, or live and work 50 or more miles from a military DTF through the ADDP.

United Concordia also supports several military organizations and has received an award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). United Concordia also pays regular visits to the Walter Reed/Bethesda Naval Medical Center.

Military organization support

The following is a list of military organizations United Concordia consistently supports to honor those who serve or have served our nation and their families:

  • Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors
  • Fisher House Foundation
  • Armed Services YMCA
  • Blue Star Families
  • Operation Homefront
  • Paralyzed Veterans of America
  • Disabled American Veterans
  • Military Officers Association of America
  • Reserve Officers Association
  • Wounded Warrior Project
  • Veterans of Foreign Wars
  • American Legion

Awards from military organizations

In 2009, United Concordia received the Seven Seals Award and Army Freedom Salute Certificate from the Pennsylvania Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).

Companies are nominated for recognition by an employee who is a member of the National Guard or Reserve. Selection is based on the nomination, which must demonstrate a company-wide commitment in support of the military. United Concordia’s ongoing commitment to National Guard and Reserve members and their families across the United States and around the world played a role in the company's selection.

Walter Reed/ Bethesda Naval Medical Center visits

United Concordia employees make quarterly visits to Walter Reed Army Medical Center/Bethesda Naval Medical Center as a show of support, encouragement and gratitude to hospitalized wounded service members. These visits reinforce our commitment to providing stellar, empathetic service to our beneficiaries.

The free activity book is available to anyone, all you need is a PDF viewer.

"In 2009, about 17 million low-income children did not receive dental care, while almost 60 percent of all children, ages 5-17, in 2000 had cavities. Our activity book is designed to teach children, in a fun and engaging way, healthy dental habits that last a lifetime," said James Bramson, D.D.S., chief dental officer for United Concordia Dental.
