United Airlines has completed installation of its popular Economy Plus seating on all of its long-haul Boeing 757-200 aircraft that fly internationally. Offering an additional six inches of legroom, there are now 41 aircraft in United’s fleet with Economy Plus areas of the coach cabin. The aircraft are operating from New York/Newark to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Belfast, Berlin, Birmingham, Copenhagen, Dublin, Edinburgh, Frankfurt, Glasgow, Hamburg, Lima, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Manchester, Oslo, Paris, Shannon, Stockholm and Stuttgart. The reconfigured aircraft are also flying from Washington/Dulles to Amsterdam and Paris.
Elite travelers in United’s MileagePlus and OnePass (the former Continental Airlines program), subject to availability at the time of booking, may confirm seat assignments in Economy Plus. Other travelers can pay the upgrade charge from straight economy seating to Economy Plus online at www.united.com or www.continental.com. The two carriers are continuing to transition to a single airline that will fly under the United Airlines banner.
United has offered Economy Plus since 1999 and offers the section on more than 550 mainline and regional jets in its fleet. Delta Air Lines debuted Economy Comfort last year, which is a similar area of its long-haul aircraft configured with more legroom and other perks including free alcoholic beverages and early boarding.
In addition to the Economy Plus seats on the 757-200s, the aircraft have 16 BusinessFirst flat-bed seats. There are 45 Economy Plus seats and 108 standard economy seats on each aircraft.
